I took these few days the British to go see the exhibition "New Documents
Nofound to " mounted by Emeric
Glayse .
Enticed by the press review which has benefited the show, I expected something more substantial ...
Do not pay attention to things strange dead animals and other curiosities lurking, the exhibition took place at
Viktor Wynd Fine Art, a kind of curiosity cabinet shop East London. The objects shown here were pending before joining the basement in the morning.
Knowing the work of Emeric Glayse and his passion for photography, I was surprised at such a facility. The photos are all of same size, framed in the same way, without any real momentum. It changes from one photo to another without logic or passion.
However, I do not know the constraints imposed in this kind of space (a windowless room lit by neon signs), which can greatly restrict how to proceed.
If the form is far from being incidental when presenting the work of photography, the background is probably even more essential. And that is where all my misunderstanding ...
In an interview with
DAZED digital , Emeric Glayze explained his way of working:
I Spend hours on the Internet searching for new work, I Receive daily contributions, I Meet photographers All The Time, It's Almost like an obsession. For me, The Most Important Things That I feel are something, That I Am not bored and not to try to follow a trend:)
The concern is that exposure does not pose candid photographers unknown or "new", there was indeed the work of Agnes Thor, Alexander Binder, Ana Kras, Bjarne Bare, Chris Heads, Elena Chernyak, Elinor Carucci, Emanuele Cardesa, Erik Van Der Weijde, Giasco Bertoli, Henry Roy Jackson Eaton, Jerry Hsu, Jonnie Craig, Keiichi Nitta, Lina Scheynius, Linus Bill, Logan White, Nicole Lesser, Loozen Christmas, Olivia Malone, Peter Sutherland, Peter Zachary Voelker, Philippe Gerlach, Rasha Kahil, Ren Hang, Rikki Kasso, Roberto Rubalcava, Thobias Faldt, Todd Fisher, Tod Seelie, Valia Fetisov, Vincent Delbrouck and Yi-Qing Liu.
That the names of those that we see almost everywhere.
This small exhibition remains interesting because the images shown are of qualities, and some of them still unknown. Regrettably still a severe shortage of new products, that were announced since the beginning, especially when one is interested (and we recognize) me as the work of curating Emeric Glayse.
The exhibition is over for today. By cons, you can still see "Saudade" by Mischa Richter
to
Gallery EXIT.
The Gallery EXIT is actually an extension of the library
Claire de Rouen specializing in photography and fashion. Found locally lot of good books, and Japanese editions also quite rare (but expensive). The expo
Mischa Richter consists of photographs, collages, drawings and comes in the form of a huge patchwork is discovered as one climbs the stairs leading to first floor.
Draws are "amateurs" period, his family, his friends.
Upstairs, there are more impressive prints, more recently, which show the current work of the photographer.
The book of the show was not terrible, and did not reproduce at all the ambience and atmosphere installation. It was therefore left there.
